About Me
I am a registered counsellor with the Australian Counsellors Association, holding a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology. His professional background brings together business ownership, leadership coaching, mental health support and private counselling practice.
Before becoming a counsellor, Rob owned and operated The Butler Did It, a high-end catering business. He later transitioned into the mental health sector, working for more than ten years as a mental health recovery support worker while also contributing as a volunteer leadership coach. For the past five and a half years, he has operated his own private counselling practice.
Rob describes himself as a relationship counsellor and coach, supporting individuals, couples and workplaces through two distinct brands: Moving Conversations, which provides Employee Assistance Program services to businesses, and The Kombi Counsellor, which offers counselling and coaching to the general public.
What sets Rob apart is his practical, client-centred and future-focused approach. Drawing strongly on Solution Focused Therapy, he helps clients move away from being defined by problems and toward identifying preferred outcomes, existing strengths and useful next steps. His work is designed to be respectful, non-retraumatising, efficient and grounded in real-world change.
My practice is a mobile counselling service, meeting clients in environments where they feel most comfortable. This may include their home, a café, a walk in the park, or even just a drive in his 1967 split-screen Kombi bus called Esperanze, meaning HOPE in Spanish. His work is built on a simple but powerful belief: conversations can change direction, and when they do, lives, relationships and workplaces can change with them.
