Royal Queensland Art Society’s 2017 Members Annual Opening and Awards Presentation evening
BNCC member Royal Queensland Art Society would like to invite BNCC members and their guests to the 2017 Members Annual Opening and Awards Presentation evening at 7.30pm on Wednesday the 16th of August. The event will be opened by Sallyanne Atkinson and entry is free.
Brisbane Branch Members will be exhibiting a range of artwork including Sculpture, Photography, Drawings, Paintings and much more.
With a prize for Best Artwork of $2000 and a total prize pool of over $5000, this year an additional prize has been added to feature our Youth Members, eligible for those artists who are aged between 18 and 30.
Showcasing works by local southeast Queensland artists there will be a range of quality artworks and gifts available to view and purchase.
This Art Exhibition will continue until the Saturday the 2nd September culminating in a closing event from 2pm to 3.30pm when the People’s Choice will be awarded.
Two special Events will be held in the gallery.
A puppet theatre “The Ugly Duckling” will be staged in the Gallery to entertain all age groups on Saturday 19th August at 2pm-$10 per ticket. Bring your children, grandparents, grandchildren, aunts, uncles and friends. Tickets are available by contacting the Gallery on 07 3367 1977
On Sunday 27th August the RQAS will be holding an Open Day from 10am to 2pm- free entry with all day Devonshire teas available for $5 & tours throughout the day. This will be followed by the Member's Gathering from 2 to 4 pm and entry is $5. Joanne Heath will present a talk called "From Matisse to Marvel" and Joanne Heath will be joined by Sue O'Sullivan to discuss volunteer guiding at QAGOMA over 2 decades. To add to the interest, you will be able to participate in a hands on demonstration of Windsor and Newton watercolours and Arches and Fabriano fine paper courtesy of Lindsay MacMahon from Jasco.
Come along from 10am to 3.30pm Tuesday through to Sunday from the 16th August to the 2nd September to view a cross section of fresh and exciting local artworks.
