BNCC Annual Economic Update
Join us to hear Dr Caton’s view of the major economies - particularly the US and China - as well as the Australian economy.
Dr Caton will discuss likely paths for interest rates, the exchange rate and share markets, and possibly even house prices. He’ll also look at the effects of the 2017/18 Federal Budget released on 9 May.
Dr Caton studied at the University of Adelaide and the University of Pennsylvania. He was the Chief Economist for BT Financial Group from July 1991 until July 2016. From 1994 to 1997, he was also Chairman of the Indicative Planning Council, which advised the Government on matters relating to the housing industry.
Previously he worked in the Treasury, the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet, and for an economic consulting firm in the United States.
In July 2013, the Fairfax press named Chris as the most accurate forecaster of the share market for the financial year 2012/13.
In January 2016 Thomson/Reuters named Chris as the most accurate economic forecaster for Australia in 2015.
