Real Jobs, Real Wages

Growing Your Team with Government Support
The Australian Government's Real Jobs, Real Wages program offers valuable support to help employers expand and diversify their workforce. The program works with employers and employment services providers to support businesses in employing people facing workforce barriers into secure, permanent positions.
Available Support Services
Through the Real Jobs, Real Wages program, employers can access:
- Advice on inclusive job design and recruitment practices
- Connections with potential candidates from across Australia
- Links to relevant government services and additional supports
- Information about assistance available for both employers and new employees before work commences
- Financial support for wages and hiring costs
- Up to 12 months of post-employment support to improve staff retention
The Benefits to Your Business
The program connects employers with candidates who have been working with employment services providers and are ready to join the workforce. These individuals often bring valuable experience, resilience, and strong work ethic to organisations. Businesses can also benefit from enhanced community connections and a more diverse, inclusive workplace culture.
Program Eligibility
Your business may be eligible if you have an ongoing vacancy, including apprenticeships or traineeships.
Eligible organisations include:
- Private businesses
- Local government
- Group Training Organisations
Note: Labour hire organisations and Australian Government or State/Territory government entities are not eligible for this program.
Financial Incentives Available
The Real Jobs, Real Wages program provides financial incentives of up to $15,000 to help employers hire eligible employees into permanent positions. This support can help:
- Offset labour costs
- Reduce onboarding and training expenses
- Support workforce growth
Employment can be part-time or full-time, with flexibility to gradually increase hours as business needs evolve.
Wage Subsidy
Eligible employers may receive a wage subsidy of up to $10,000 (GST inclusive), paid over the first 6 months:
- $10,000 for employees working 20 hours or more per week
- $7,000 for employees working less than 20 hours per week
12-Month Secure Work Payment
An additional payment may be available when the employee remains in their permanent role after one year:
- $5,000 for employees working 20 hours or more per week
- $3,000 for employees working less than 20 hours per week
