Celebrating our YOUNG ENTREPRENEURS
Young student entrepreneurs have again wowed the judges at the annual Brisbane Northside Australian Business Week (ABW) program.
Proudly supported by Brisbane North Chamber of Commerce, ABW is an enterprise education program which gives students the opportunity to learn about managing a business.
Each team forms an Australian listed company, assumes the roles of a typical management team and gains ‘hands-on’ experience in making
decisions affecting the company’s performance.
Eight teams of year 10 students representing state and private schools within the Brisbane North region participated in this year’s program.
Each team prepared a shareholders’ report, held a shareholders’ meeting, created a website and set up a trade display.
The final day of judging was held recently at Hillbrook Anglican School where community members were invited to attend the shareholders’ meetings and trade fair.
Brisbane North Chamber of Commerce has been a proud supporter and sponsor of the Brisbane Northside Australian Business Week since its inception in 2002 providing medallions and a perpetual trophy for the winning team.
In addition, a number of chamber members helped to judge and support the young participants:
Chris Jeffery: website
Mark Cusack: reports and presentations
Belinda Shaw: presentations
Maureen Cuskelly: displays
Jenny Marsden: displays
This year’s overall winner was ‘GloSport’ from Hillbrook Anglican School, while ‘AthleTech’ also from Hillbrook was the runner up. The trophy and medallions were presented by BNCC Executive Committee Member, Belinda Shaw.
