Di Bella serves up recipe for success
“You must get people emotionally engaged!"
This was the key message from Phillip Di Bella to more than 80 local business owners, government and industry representatives at the Brisbane North Chamber of Commerce (BNCC) signature breakfast on 31 October.
Known as Brisbane’s leading coffee entrepreneur, Di Bella outlined his “10 Principles to Success” at the event sponsored by Queensland Finance and Leasing. Di Bella’s insightful presentation covered the lessons learned following his remarkable rise from founding his business in 2002 to becoming Australia’s largest specialty coffee company.
Among Di Bella’s insights was the importance he places on inspiring passion in others by getting them to adopt a growth mindset.
“That means being able to articulate the vision of your business and remaining passionate about it…don’t quit."
“Understand you’re in the people business, offer a better service than your competitors, and adopt successful habits. Ultimately, be prepared to do what others aren’t prepared to do,” he said.
BNCC President, Simon Penrose, said the presentation was an inspiration to small business owners looking to innovate and grow their customer base.
“Phillip has shown that success in business is about going the extra mile, being a committed member of your community and having a vision which gets your customers and staff emotionally engaged.”
